What Il Salone del Mobile 2025 teaches us about the parasol of tomorrow

Il salone del Mobile 2025

Every year the international design world gathers in Milan for Il Salone del Mobile. It is the place where trends are born and where designers, architects and manufacturers show their vision of the future.

We from Symo Parasols were also there. Not to admire chairs or tables, but to get inspiration for the professional parasol of tomorrow.

New fabrics, new opportunities

Eye-catching this year: fabrics with texture, shimmer or even metal threads. Consider Edra’s booth, where textiles took on a sculptural character. Can we also use such fabrics for parasols? Technically it is a challenge, because parasol fabrics must not only be beautiful, but also UV-resistant, water-repellent and durable. Nevertheless, we are exploring whether we can translate this aesthetic into our collection.

Existing models, reinvented

At Kartell, we saw how Philippe Starck’s iconic Liberty chair was given a new look thanks to a different fabric. Cassina released classics by Le Corbusier and Perriand in fresh colors. Why not do the same with our parasols? Think of Davy Grosemans’ FrouFrou in a new color palette. Or our hospitality classics in a limited edition fabric. This way you give your terrace a unique look without compromising on quality.

Fluffy shapes and round lines

Another trend: soft, rounded shapes. Seats looked almost like clouds, with thick cushions and rounded contours. In parasol terms, we think of softer lines in the design of the parasol roof or frame. And why not a perfectly round parasol? Technically it’s not obvious, especially in terms of locking mechanism, but the idea is alive and well. We accept the challenge.

Colors that stand out and stay that way

The colors at Il Salone were striking: purple, old green, ice blue, ochre gold, bordeaux. But natural shades also remain popular. These colors are finding their way into fashion as well as onto the terrace. We are already thinking about a purple parasol, or a combination of blue-purple with a contrasting trim. Because we also saw that a lot: a border in a different color, which gives the design just that extra touch.

What does this mean for your patio?

  • You don’t have to buy new furniture every year. A new parasol in a trendy color or fabric can already make a world of difference.
  • Design is not just for inside. You also want to exude atmosphere, style and comfort outside.
  • An umbrella is more than shade. It is a statement. And that should be seen.

What will the future bring?

At Symo Parasols, we follow the design world closely. Not to copy trends blindly, but to translate them into durable, strong and stylish parasols for professionals. Whether you run a restaurant, manage a hotel resort or furnish an assisted living facility, we provide the umbrella that fits your vision.

“Design is not a luxury, it’s a way to tell your story. Also on your patio.” – CEO Symo Parasols
