Iford, home to the Cartwright-Hignett family since 1965, has a rich history dating back to the Domesday Book. Iford Manor Estate won the 2020 Historic Houses/ Sotheby’s Restoration Award for the work to underpin and save Harold Peto’s Grade II listed cloisters within their Grade 1 listed gardens.
All profits from garden visitors and the cafe & restaurant are reinvested back into maintaining the valley, garden, ecology and heritage at Iford. With over 3 miles of footpaths running through the estate, there is something to enjoy all year round, even when the famous gardens are closed.
Trivia: the magnificent gardens of Iford Manor were used as a key location in “The Secret Garden” starring Colin Firth and Julie Walters (2020).
The estate owner needed heavy-duty parasols for the terrace of his award-winning cafe/restaurant as well as portable parasols for his ‘casual’ terrace. Symo provided 3 Trevo cantilever parasols, each anchored by a 200kg moveable base on wheels and 2 Quattro parasols, each anchored by a 60kg concrete base.
